Brooklyn Dojo is located at: 93 Pineapple Walk Brooklyn, NY 11201 map -Pineapple Walk is a pedestrian walkway extension of Pineapple Street in Brooklyn Heights.
A dojo is a term used in Japanese martial arts that refers to a formal training hall -- literally translated as "the place of the way." We chose to use the term dojo despite the fact that we offer more than just Japanese martial arts because we feel it conveys a certain attitude of respect and seriousness towards fitness programs in general. Brooklyn Dojo is locally owned and operated. The owner and his family live in Brooklyn Heights. The owner is a practicing martial artist and a teacher at Brooklyn Dojo, not just a businessperson or an entrepreneur. The majority of our programs or instructors are based in Brooklyn with many in the greater Brooklyn Heights vicinity.
Brooklyn Dojo is not a franchise operation and is thus fully commmitted to quality instruction for all of our students. Our class offerings make martial arts and fitness classes available to all ages and abilities ranging from prenatal to seniors, through the gentle movements of Chi Kung to the hard-hitting style of karate. Children's classes are segmented by age ranges such that the instruction your child receives will be age- and ability-appropriate. Our street-level facility features an open training space of almost 800 square feet (column-free) with nearly 2000 pounds of professional martial arts padded flooring. LEARN - TRAIN - IMPROVE - DEFEND (what's this?) {moscomment}
